Inspired by a word in the language of the Bribri people of Central America, the story of Dlö presents how the four elements can be a source of sustainable energy. With beautiful hand-drawn images by Brazilian illustrator Juliana Diógenes, Dlö invites readers on an adventure with their friend, the Firefly.
Aimed at children aged 3 to 7, this illustrated story is designed to spark intergenerational conversations about energy transitions, climate change, Indigenous peoples’ knowledge and rights, and the responsible management of natural resources. As a bilingual story, it is a great way to introduce vocabulary in a second language. The first edition includes a song by Ceiba Ili, a Central American cultural educator and musician-activist.
