Activation Kit

Description

Building on the knowledge and experience gained in designing and delivering previous iterations of the Youth Energy Academy, the YEA Activation Kit intends to provide interested stakeholders, including those from the YEA’s community of practice, with a set of actionable resources to organize and deliver capacity-building activities following the YEA model.

Our aim in developing the YEA Activation Kit is to compile information and present it in a flexible enough way that – although inspired by the 7-day YEA – can be adapted to meet the user’s needs in relation to organizing capacity-building activities to fit varying timeframes, resources, curricula and other limitations.

This toolkit includes:

The YEA Playbook

It contains all the basic information of what is involved in organizing a Youth Energy Academy (YEA) and the details of SEYN’s approach of doing things.
It is intended to serve as a step-by-step guide or recipe book for anyone wishing to design and implement a successful YEA or similar type of workshop, as most of the learnings can be applied to organizing different types of workshops (and we also drew on SEYN’s experience in organizing 10-day Mastercourses and other types of workshops held in the past).

However, cooking a delicious dish is not just about following recipe instructions to the letter. It is about following your own inspiration, previous experience, cultural background and, unavoidably, it is limited to the ingredients that you have at your disposal. So, you do not need to follow all the steps, nor follow them in this exact order. This playbook is based on our experience and is not meant to be prescriptive, nor to provide an exhaustive list of all the options available.

The Trainer’s Manual

The contents of this manual are organized to reflect the modules covered during the 7YEA. Each module includes key information on the introduced topics, their objectives, proposed session and presentation outlines, related activities, tips and further resources for their implementation.

As an organizer and/or facilitator of your own YEA experience, we encourage you to be creative in adapting it to best suit your needs and objectives. In doing so, you may decide to design an activity that expands upon the lessons and topics covered over a longer period of time, select specific sessions or activities, and make use of other materials and resources that are available to you. Above all, make sure that you have fun!

DIY Manuals

Description

Through our own educational activities, we have developed the designs for some simple solar energy systems whose construction is used to provide participants with a hands-on practical experience in working with renewable energy systems.

We converted these designs into DIY Manuals listing all the materials needed and step-by-step instructions so that anyone can use them, and why not take them to the next level!

If you do use them to make these systems yourselves, all that we ask is that you send us some pictures so we can admire your work, and some feedback so we can improve them for the next users.

Have fun!
